New Spider-Man Andrew Garfield!

Get ready for more web-slinging and muscle-revealing suits: Your new Spider-Man has been cast! Sony Pictures has announced that taking over the superhero role from Tobey Maguire is The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus star Andrew Garfield.

"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents," director Marc Webb, who is working with the movie company to relaunch the Spider-Man movie franchise, said of Garfield in the statement.

"He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."

Garfield reportedly beat out a long list of hot young actors vying for the role, including The Kids Are Alright's Josh Hutcherson.

"Spider-Man is a classic superhero -- a young man who balances his responsibility to serve humanity and crush evil with the shyness and normalcy of someone struggling to find himself," added Sony's Amy Pascal and Matt Tolmach in a joint statement.
